Fidelity SecureDrive Lions defence coach Jaque Fourie said the Lions have "found their identity" and have a clear plan to beat Leinster on Saturday at 18:30 (SA Time), focusing on "fine-tuning" their execution for the upcoming weekend.
“From a defence point, personally for me, I’ve been very proud of the guys, I think we’ve grown heaps and bounds the last four games.”
Fourie said that the team has built significant confidence following a six-match winning streak.
“After the Bulls game, we came back that Monday and we had to change a few things. And it’s just gotten better and better.”
“For us now, I think we’ve had four or five big results at home, which has built a lot of confidence, and that’s what you need when you come to Leinster to play them.”
He emphasised that the Lions have "found their identity" and possess a clear plan to beat Leinster, focusing on "fine-tuning" their execution for the upcoming weekend.
“We’ve found our identity. We know how we want to play. We know what we need to do on Saturday to win and to beat Leinster.”
Fourie believes a sound defensive effort will be the primary "weapon" to blunt Leinster’s attack and create counter-attacking opportunities.
“We’re using our defence as a weapon to score tries. For us, it’s all about putting teams under pressure, getting the ball back and then converting that pressure into points.”
“We know we haven’t achieved anything yet. We still have two big games. Our biggest challenge is Saturday in Dublin against Leinster.”
