The Toyota Cheetahs cruised to an easy win against the NovaVit Griffons in the second match of the Toyota Challenge on Sunday afternoon.
The Cheetahs outscored their neighbours by seven tries to three in an exciting, however, error-ridden fixture.
The first fifteen minutes of the match were spoilt by several errors and decisions made by both teams on the attack and defence.
The first two tries came from forward-dominated attacks with Ulrich Stander and Marko Janse van Rensburg barging their way over the Griffons' tryline.
A great show-and-go by scrumhalf Cheslin Arendse secured the Griffons' first points to trail 12-07, however, two tries within three minutes of play by man-of-the-match Prince Nkabinde secured a 26-07 lead for the hosts going into the second half.
The Griffons made a mistake with the kick which eventually led to Sisonke Vumazonke scoring the Cheetahs' fifth try. Thereafter, the Cheetahs and Griffons scored two tries each resulting in a 45-21 win, earning the Cheetahs R300 000.00 in prize money.
The Cheetahs will host the Emerging Ireland at 19:00 on Wednesday in the final match of the Toyota Challenge. The Emerging Ireland are still unbeaten, beating the Western Force 29-14 earlier today.
