Springboks Can Reclaim Top Spot On World Rugby Ranking

World Rugby has published the ranking permutations for the second test of the Rugby's Greatest Rivalry series in South Africa and Argentina's encounter with Australia.

South Africa can reclaim the No. 1 spot in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings this weekend if they avenge last weekend’s defeat against New Zealand. However, a second consecutive victory for the All Blacks by more than 15 points could stretch their lead over the Springboks to as much as 4.28 rating points. Even if South Africa suffers another heavy loss, they are guaranteed to remain in second place due to a comfortable three-point cushion over third-placed Ireland.

Meanwhile, Australia will climb to seventh place if they secure a victory against Argentina in Jujuy. The Wallabies are safe from falling further down the table in defeat, as they maintain a 3.24-point lead over Fiji. Conversely, Argentina cannot rise above seventh place even with a win, though a victory would bring Los Pumas within a tight 0.22 rating point of Scotland in sixth.
