
The Springbok Women SVNS beat Argentina 7s 19-17 to qualify for the 9th place final on Sunday morning at 12:15 (SA Time).
Argentina opened the scoring after three minutes of play; however, a great break by Eloise Webb, who offloaded to Ayanda Malinga, led to Malinga outsprinting the defenders of Argentina. Byrhandre Dolf converted to edge the Springboks 07-05 into the lead with three minutes to play in the first half. With a minute to play, Byrhandre Dolf toed the ball forward, and Eloise Webb pounced to score the Springboks' second try, extending their lead to 12-06 at the halftime break.
Argentina made a perfect start in the second half, scoring after just 30 seconds to cut the Springboks’ lead to 12-10. A minute later, Zintle Mpupha cut Argentina’s defence in two to extend the Springboks’ lead to 19-10, following the conversion by Byrhandre Dolf. A late try by Argentina cut the Springboks' lead to 19-17, which was the final score of the match.
