Affies 28-17 Oakdale

After three minutes of play, Oakdale launched wave after wave of attacks until Oakdale crashed over to lead 07-00. Affies replied four minutes later, patiently building their attack from their big boys until they crashed over to level the scores 07-07 after nine minutes of play. Affies spread to the ball wide and with ten minutes to go, their fullback attacked from the back, sliced past Oakdale’s defenders to extend Affies’ lead to 14-07. A minute later, Oakdale converted a penalty, to which Affies answered with spreading the ball wide try off the back of a lineout maul to crash over under the poles. With five minutes to play, Affies led 21-10.

A quick tap by a dominant Oakdale led to them bulldozing over the Affies’ tryline to cut the Affies' lead to 21-17. Affies clawed its way back into contention and scored its fourth try, following several brutal runs against the defence of Oakdale. Affies led 28-17 with ten minutes to play. A yellow card to Affues with eight minutes to play. Affies deservedly won 28-17.

Grey College 51-19 Helpmekaar

Grey attacked from the kickoff and scored their first try in the first minute of the match to lead 05-00. Helpmekaar absorbed the pressure and scored a great try to level the scores after fifteen minutes of play. Helpmekaar started to dominate, and their second try ten minutes later had the players and supporters jumping up and down. Helpmekaar led 12-05 with ten minutes still to play. Grey College launched a fifteen-man attack from the kickoff and decided to convert a penalty to cut Helpmekaar’s lead to 12-08 with five minutes still to play. Grey College continued its onslaught, and speed gave them the edge out wide. Grey’s second try put them into the lead 15-12. Two minutes later, Grey showed that their forwards can also crush the defence of any opponent and following a brilliant forward’s try down the middle of the field, Grey led 22-12.

Grey College scored the first try in the second half using the forwards to dominate Helpmekaar. Grey led 29-12 after ten minutes of play in the second half. Grey continued their dominance, and their sixth try extended their lead to 34-12. Grey added a converted penalty before Helpmekaar added their second try to the scoreboard. However, Grey replied with two late tries to secure a 51-19 win.

Noordheuwel 61-10 Paarl Gim

Paarl Gim scored the first try of the match within the first three minutes since the start of the match. Five minutes later, Gim took a quick tap five meters out and bulldozed their way over the Noordheuwel tryline to lead 14-00. A red card to Noordheuwel was followed by Gimmies third try to extend their lead to 21-00 after fifteen minutes of play. The Gimmies continued to score at regular intervals and led 35-00 at the halftime break.

Paarl Gim continued their fine form in the second half, and despite two tries by Noordheuwel, Gimmies won 61-10.

Menlopark 46-28 Boland Landbou

Boland Landbou started like a house on fire and scored their first try, spreading the ball from a “failed” line-out maul for the big forwards to crash over. Three minutes later, Boland spread the ball wide to their backs to score their second try, extending their lead to 14-00 after ten minutes of play in the first half. Following a yellow card to Boland Landbou, Menlopark used their advantage to score the ball wide from a lineout, for their winger to cruise past Boland’s defenders, to cut Boland’s lead to 14-07 after seventeen minutes of play in the first half. Menlo scored a second try, spreading the ball once again wide, to score their second try and level the scores after twenty minutes of play in the first half. Boland Landbou used their big boys to maul over for their third try, which was converted for Menlopark to retake the lead 21-14 and still ten minutes to play in the first half. Menlopark scored their fourth try to level the scores 21-21 going into the second half.

Menlopark started the second half like a house on fire and spread the ball wide to their speedsters to score their first try of the second half, taking the lead 26-21 after five minutes of play in the second half. Following a try by Boland Landbou, Menlopark scored two great tries to edge Boland Landbou 36-28 with fifteen minutes still to play. With eight minutes to play, Menlopark added a converted penalty, before sealing the match with a great maul off a lineout to extend their lead to 46-28 with three minutes still to play.

Rustenburg 07-23 Durbanville

The first ten minutes of the match were an arm wrestle, and when Rustenburg spread the ball wide to their outside centre, who ran a brilliant line to score Rustenburg’s first try after fourteen minutes of play. Durbanville replied with a converted penalty to cut Rustenburg’s lead to 07-03. Durbanville absorbed a lot of pressure, fighting their way back on the pitch until Durbanville crushed over, taking the lead 10-07 after twenty-three minutes of play. With time running out, Durbanville upped their attack and eventually spread the ball wide to score in the corner. Durbanville led 15-07, which was the halftime score.

In a hard-fought second half, Durbanville converted a penalty to extend their lead to 18-07 with twenty minutes still to play. Two minutes later, Durbanville pounced on mistakes and a bouncing ball in Rustenburg’s red zone to score the first try of the match for Durbanville to lead 23-07, which was the final score.

Middelburg 38-41 Witteberg

Middelburg used their dominant maul to score the first try of the match and led 05-00 after just five minutes of the first half. Seven minutes later, they scored their second try as they started to dominate. Middelburg led 12-00 after twelve minutes of play in the second half. Witteberg struck off the kickoff with a brilliant maul to score their first try, and cut Middelburg’s lead to 12-05. Thereafter, Middelburg and Witteberg traded tries, and with ten minutes still to play in the second half, Middelburg led 17-10. With five minutes to play, the ball was spread wide from a lineout, and Witteberg cut the defence of Middelburg’s midfield to score their third try to level the scores at 17-17. A cheeky chip by Middelburg was pounced on to retake the lead for Middelburg to go into the halftime break at 24-17.

Both teams scored at regular intervals; however, during the final fifteen minutes Witteberg scored two tries and converted a penalty to lead 41-31 with seven minutes to play. Middelburg upped the pace of their attack and scored a well-worked try to cut Witteberg’s lead to three points. Witteberg deservedly won 41-38.

Welkom Gim 54-43 Nico Malan

Nico Malan opened the scoring from the back of a lineout maul to lead 07-00 after three minutes of play in the first half. Welkom Gim replied five minutes later, scoring their first try off the back of a dominant scrum, to level the scores 07-07. Thereafter, Nico Malan scored two tries in quick succession to lead 21-07, whereafter Welkom Gim scored two tries to level the scores 21-21 with ten minutes of play in the first half. The match at this stage has lost any structure it may have had, with both teams running at every opportunity, while the defence was not at its best. Nico Malan scored two late tries to lead 33-21 at the halftime break.

Welkom Gim opened the scoring with a try after six minutes of play in the second half. Nico Malan answered almost immediately; however, Welkom Gim scored four unanswered tries during the final twenty minutes. Nico Malan had the final say and scored a try to cut Welkom Gim’s lead to 54-43.

Middelburg HTS 18-27 Trio

The first fifteen minutes of the first half were an arm wrestle with both teams having chances on the attack and their defences being tested. With ten minutes to play in the first half, Middelburg converted a penalty to take the lead 03-00. Trio started to dominate and, following wave after wave of attacks, Trio took a quick tap from a penalty and bulldozed their way over the try line of Middelburg. Middelburg converted a penalty with time up on the clock to trail 06-07 going into the second half.

Trio opened the scoring in the second half with a converted penalty, to which Middelburg HTS replied with a try from a trick play off a five-meter lineout. Middelburg led 11-10 after five minutes of play in the second half. Middelburg HTS scored their second try as Middelburg is slowly taking control of the match. Middelburg led 18-10 with eighteen minutes still to play. However, Trio attacked off the kickoff and scored a try in the corner to cut Middelburg’s lead to 18-15. Two minutes later, Trio struck out wide on the other side of the field to take the lead 22-18 with ten minutes still to play. Trio adds another try within two minutes of play to extend their lead 27-18. Middelburg HTS scored a consolation try to cut Trio's lead to 27-25, which was the final score.
