The NoordVaal competitions are gaining momentum as the rest of the country prepares for the June/Jule holiday and Youth Weeks.
NoordVaal Cup - No surprises expected here . Garsfontein is hosting Menlopark in a 1stXV match that should be close untill Garsfontein’s power up front becomes a bit too hot to handle for their neighbours, whereafter it could/will become a tryfest for Garsfontein, who is the favourite to remain unbeaten in this competition.
Monnas comes off a “good” win over Jeppe (47-29); however, their slump in the second half would have been noticed by Helpmekaar and will be targeted by Helpmekaar to surprise the Wit Bulle. Helpmekaar’s 2026 season is looking like a horror movie, and despite beating a spirited EG Jansen (36-24), Monnas should win and keep their unbeaten record in the Cup competition.
Noordheuwell is on a four-match losing streak, and if they are not careful, their visitors, EG Jansen, might just be responsible for the surprise of the weekend.
In the final match, the unbeaten Middelburg will travel to Waterkloof, looking for their fourth win in a row; however, the form Waterkloof showed against Menlopark (36-12) a week ago will make a win for Middelburg a big surprise. Expect the bus-ride back to Middelburg to be a long and quiet trip.
In the Plate division, Nelspuit, who is currently unbeaten, have an off weekend. The unbeaten Zwartkop, who bullied Eldoraigne a week ago, travels to Wesvalia, who would like to get their season back on track following their 20-27 loss to Oos Moot in Pretoria.
In the Shield division the two unbeaten teams. Piet Retief and Ben Vorster should remain unbeaten, while the other teams will be looking for performances to secure semi-final spots.
