Junior Springboks Made To Work Hard By Georgia For Win At JWC

 

The Junior Springboks were made to work hard for a 33-05 bonus-point win over Georgia U20 in a Round 2 Pool A clash of the World Rugby Junior World Championship.

The Junior Boks led 12-05 at the halftime break; however, they dominated the second half and scored 21 unanswered points with a structured and disciplined game plan as Georgia "earned" 5 yellow cards and 1 red card during the final 45 minutes of the match.

Georgia made a confident start to the match, and following wave after wave of attacks, Georgia spread the ball wide to Luka Tabatadze, who scored in the corner after 08 minutes of play, to lead 05-00.

Despite being physically dominated by Georgia, the Junior Boks patiently worked their way up the field, and eventually Siphosethu Mnebelele crashed over from the back of a lineout-maul to level the scores 05-05 after 23 minutes of play in the first half.

The Junior Boks started to dominate and set up camp in Georgia’s half. With eight minutes to play, Siphosethu Mnebelele scored his second try off the back of a lineout-maul to extend the Junior Boks' lead to 12-05.

With time up in the first half, Georgia was shown a yellow card, which was later upgraded to a 20-minute red card. The Junior Boks led 12-05 at the halftime break.

Georgia lost a second player for a deliberate knockdown after just 30 seconds of play in the second half.

Following 13 minutes setting up camp in Georgia’s 22m, launching wave after wave of attacks, Cheswill Jooste stepped past several defenders to score a brilliant individual try. Glliomee converted to extend the Junior Boks' lead to 19-05.

Luan Giliomee took a quick tap 5m from Georgia’s tryline and crashed over to extend the Junior Boks' lead to 26-05 with 20 minutes to play in the second half.

With 2 minutes to play, Luke Cannon crashed over for the Junior Boks' 5th try. Alzeadon Felix converted to secure a 33-05 win for the Junior Boks.
