Ex-Vodacom Bulls prop Trevor Nyakane will return to Loftus Versfeld on Saturday at 17:00 with the Hollywoodbets Sharks. Nyakane said it is going to be a tough challenge, however, the Sharks are not travelling to Pretoria to lie down and play dead.
“They are a strong outfit when it comes to scrummaging and forward play, you can see by the results and the way they have been going the last few weeks."
"It’s going to be tough, but that’s why we play the game. We play to face the best. Their scrum and maul are really good, but that’s where we need to stand up and show our character.”
"We have put a few things in place and are working very hard. We are not going up there to lie down and accept that we will be defeated."
"I played there for a couple of years, and I know that they pride themselves in forward dominance and physicality. But we play the game to measure ourselves against the best when it comes to specific things."
"I know moves of theirs and they know things about me. I know what is coming. It’s not going to be easy, because they are really good."
"It is personal for me, but I think for the Bulls it is just as personal playing the Sharks, Lions or Stormers. South African derbies are always personal."
"Injuries are part of the game, and you are not going to have everyone in the squad available every week. You have to learn to adapt around that. The pressure is always there even when the Springboks aren’t there."
"It’s about working hard and producing what the coaches expect of us. The boys who have come in are stepping up, and they are showing they’re hungry to make their mark."
“It is pressure and it’s going to be difficult at Loftus, but the boys who have come in are stepping up. They are showing they’re hungry to showcase themselves and it’s easier to lead a group like that."
"They have been making amazing progress and the energy they are injecting into the sessions is really infectious, especially for the older guys."
