The Hoërskool Monument (Monnas) Witbulle will host the Hoërskool Garsfontein Bere on Saturday, 06 June 2026. This highly anticipated encounter is a highlight of the Noordvaal Cup competition in what many see as a dress rehearsal for the final to be played on 22 August 2026.
The Garsfontein "Bere" arrive in Krugersdorp at the top of their game and are currently unbeaten in the competition and on a 6-match unbeaten streak. They are chasing their fourth consecutive Noordvaal Cup title and recently secured a convincing 52-28 bonus-point win over Rustenburg.
The "Witbulle" have built strong momentum after coming out of a difficult period, re-establishing themselves as a top national contender. Playing on their home ground (the "Ras") gives them a formidable advantage, where they look to make a major statement, chasing their 11th win in a row.
Monnas has evolved since the start of the 2026 season into a well-coached team that can and will dominate up front with a backline that is capable of running any defence to pieces. However, if it is a lack of fitness or loss of concentration in the second half, Jeppe, Helpmekaar and Menlopark all score most of their points against Monnas in the final quarter of the match.
Garsfontein, despite playing a similar brand of rugby, is not scared to play high-risk rugby, which, most of the time, results in spectacular tries. Garsfontein has shown that they can and will fight back despite trailing going into the final quarter, and that is what I believe will be the difference on Saturday.
Expect Monnas to launch a massive onslaught in the first half to lead 15-20 points going into the second half; however, then sit back and watch the brilliance of a 15-man attack from Garsfontein, securing a 05-10-point win over a very good Monnas side.
Middelburg travels to EG Jansen, and this could be interesting, with EG Jansen maybe just the underdog that will surprise, while Noordheuwel should cruise to an easy win.
Pretoria Boys High will have to pray for a miracle against Jeppe, while the battle between Oos Moot and Zwartkop will be brutal.
