Leolin Zas and Damian Willemse were involved in a heavy collision during training at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday and are facing fitness assessments as the team prepares for their high-stakes United Rugby Championship (URC) quarterfinal match against Cardiff.
The official team announcement is scheduled for Friday, and it will confirm whether these key backline players are cleared to play.
Leolin Zas suffered a suspected haematoma to his right knee after colliding with Willemse on a wet surface. He cut his training short, was seen hobbling, and went for scans. Despite initial concerns, optimism remains that he will be fit for the weekend.
Damian Willemse banged his knee during the same collision but was able to complete the training session. He was also sent for scans as a precaution.
Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu sat out part of the session after feeling unwell. There is no major concern regarding his availability. Jurie Matthee covered for him at fly-half during practice.
