Stellenberg High School travels to Paarl today to face Paarl Boishaai at the iconic Brug Street field. A win for Stellenberg would solidify their grip on the national No. 1 ranking and secure a first "Winelands Grand Slam”, while Boishaai is tasked to defend the pride of the traditional “rugby aristocrats.”
The Jade Brigade enters as one of the top-ranked sides in South Africa, having won 11 of their first 12 matches in 2026. They have already secured massive "scalps" this season, including wins over Paarl Gim, Grey College, and Paul Roos.
Boishaai have been less consistent than in 2025 (5 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw), but Boishaai remains formidable at home. They are coming off a tough 31–21 loss to Grey College and will be desperate to defend their home turf.
This is Boishaai's final home game of the 2026 season, and they will look to stamp their authority early on with their traditional fast start, opening up an early commanding lead; however, Stellenberg has shown that they know how to grind out a close win.
The winner? It should be Stellenberg, however, expect Sean Erasmus to plot a big surprise.
Another big derby is the one between Oakdale and Outeniqua, with Oakdale the favourites despite having only won 4 of 9 this season. Outeniqua have won 6 from 10 matches played this season; however, they have had a few “soft” matches on their schedule so far.
Oakdale is known for a formidable scrum and physical forward play, creating plenty of quality attacking ball for their silky backline to score match-winning tries, while Outeniqua will look to use their expansive backline play to run Oakdale’s forwards’ hold on the game to pieces.
This match will be played with a lot of emotion; however, I can not see Outeniqua travelling back home from Riversdal with smiles.
