
Australia secured a 19-12 win over the Blitzboks with time up on the stadium clock to win Pool A in New York. Despite the loss the Blitzboks secured a place in the semi-final against Argentina 7’s on Sunday at 18:50 on Sunday.
Australia opened the scoring with two quickfire tries to take a 12-00 lead and two minutes still to play. The Blitzboks got their hands on quality attacking ball, and Selvyn Davids eventually crashed over to cut Australia’s lead to 12-07 at the halftime break.
Selvyn Davids scored his second try, beating an Australian defender on the outside to level the scores 12-12 after four minutes of play in the second half.
Australia launched another attack and scored the winning try with time up on the clock.
Despite the loss, the Blitzboks will play Argentina in the second semi-final on Sunday at 18:50 (SA Time)
