The Blitzboks were made to work hard for a 12-05 win over France, to remain unbeaten in New York.
France “dominated” the opening stages of the first half, and sometimes only the desperate defence of the Blitzboks kept them from scoring on several occasions.
With only seconds to play, Tristan Leyds took a quick tap from a penalty and, following a fifty-meter footrace, Leyds scored the first try of the first half. France replied immediately with a long-distance try to level the scores on 05-05 at the halftime break.
The brilliant defence of the Blitzboks put a lot of pressure on France, and Ronald Brown sniped next to the side of the scrum and scored the Blitzboks' second try. Brown converted to extend the Blitzboks’ lead to 12-05, with a minute to play in the second half.
The Blitzboks held on to secure their second win in New York.
