Backline star Wandisile Simelane has signed a contract extension that will see him play his rugby in Cape Town until at least 2028.
The fleet-footed midfielder, who can also cover at fullback when required, has grown in stature since joining the squad in early 2024 and is poised to continue that upward trajectory in the seasons ahead.
Known for his devastating step and ability to put defenders on the back foot, Simelane has a natural feel for the game, which makes him a threat from anywhere on the field.
Director of Rugby John Dobson said that he is looking forward to seeing Simelane continue to develop his game.
“Wandi’s growth since joining us has been phenomenal. He is a naturally gifted athlete and footballer, but what has impressed us the most is the way he has applied himself to improve all areas of his game.
“He is surrounded by talented players in our backline and has made some telling contributions within our environment both on the field and in our preparations. We are looking forward to seeing where he can go from here,” he said.
Simelane said that his focus is on how he can best contribute to the team going forward.
“There are plenty of top players in this squad and the overall environment has challenged me while also allowing me to express myself.
“I’ve got no doubt that this is the best place for me and I just want to do everything I can to help the club succeed,” he said.
