Curro Langebaan The Top Rugby School In The Curro Group

Curro Langebaan is busy rewriting the manual for smaller schools on how to become competitive in the world of schoolboy rugby. Curro Langebaan's Executive Head, Eddie Conradie deserves credit for not accepting being average and was the catalyst for the newfound success on the rugby fields with his willingness to take pioneering decisions.

The appointment of Loffie Eloff as his Director of Rugby in 2020 brought a new dimension to Curro Langebaan'ss rugby which is starting to produce brilliant results.

Loffie Eloff is well known in the South African Rugby circles, he coached the Junior Springboks to two Junior World Cup titles and was also Head Coach at the Lions. His role at Curro Langebaan is primarily focused on coaching of the coaches and being a mentor to several talented boys at Langebaan. However, knowing Loffie it did not end there.

Loffie, together with 1stXV head coach Rian van den Heever and his two assistant coaches, Ryno Benjamin and Alpheus Ngwenja, already started to produce results in 2021 when they outplayed Curro Durbanville with 25-10 in a warm-up match, an early indication of what to expect in 2022.

However, it is their results in 2022 that are drawing attention. Their three recent wins in a row against Augsberg (27-17), Verdendal (28-17) and Dirkie Uys (29-17) earned them respect amongst their opponents. Langebaan will play their final match of the season against Hopefield, a team they never could beat before .....

These results have seen Curro Langebaan pass Curro Nelspruit on the latest Ruggas.co.za rankings, making them the top "rugby school" in the Curro group.

Even more impressive is that Curro Langebaan is currently one of the top improving schools of the season on the Ruggas.co.za rankings. Should they manage to beat Hopefield they should end the season as one of the top five most improved schools in the country.

However, Loffie Eloff was quick to point out that there is still a lot to improve on in 2023 and the planning is already in place to make sure that they keep that number one title at Langebaan for the foreseeable future.
