In-form halfback Ryan Lonergan says coach Les Kiss has lifted the ceiling on the Wallabies' attack. However, he warns the team is still far from reaching its full potential ahead of a major clash with world champions South Africa.
Kiss remains unbeaten in four Tests as coach. The run includes wins against Japan and away against Argentina, followed by a tight draw against Los Pumas in Mendoza.
The Wallabies left Argentina with a historic tour trophy. Even so, the players felt frustrated after failing to put the game away against a team that had two men sent to the sin bin in the final ten minutes.
"We know we've got to be better than what we were, but we can see the growth," said Lonergan. He finished the last match playing at flyhalf after a leg injury forced Carter Gordon off the field.
"If we get our game together on both sides of the ball and tidy up our attack, we have a chance of pushing them a long way," Lonergan added. "Now it is about converting our chances."
"Some of the decisions we've made over these four, five weeks, we got a lot of information from it," Kiss said when asked how he'd approach selections for the next phase of matches.
"It'll narrow the mindset about how we go forward.
"It was important this group knew we'd back them, challenge them in many different ways, and we'll get a lot of pay for that down the road.
"We're playing the No.1 nation in the world. What are we, seven or six? So we need to get some things better.
"But the boys will be up for the fight."
