The Eagles have impressed with their attacking style throughout the campaign, while EP have shown resilience, most notably when they fought back from a halftime deficit to defeat the Leopards 40-32 recently. With home-ground advantage in the semi-finals potentially still at stake, neither side can afford to ease off.
Few matches this season have carried as much significance as Saturday's meeting between the Valke and Griffons in Kempton Park.
The Valke occupy third place on the standings and have built their campaign on a powerful attacking game, highlighted by a comprehensive 96-19 victory over Border Bulldogs in which they crossed for 14 tries. Their points difference has become a valuable asset in the race for playoff positions.
For the defending champion Griffons, the equation is straightforward: win and stay in the hunt. Defeat could see the Northern Free Staters crash out of playoff contention depending on results elsewhere.
After losing their last two games, against SWD at home and EP away, the Griffons will be desperate to rediscover the form that carried them to last season's title.
With both sides fully aware that a semi-final place may depend on the outcome, supporters can expect a fiercely contested encounter between two of the competition's traditional heavyweights and the two sides that contested last year’s final in Kempton Park.

The Leopards know that maximum points against the Bulldogs would all but guarantee them a place in the semi-finals. While they have suffered several narrow defeats this season, their performances have shown enough quality to suggest they can secure the result they need.
