The race to the crown of KwaZulu-Natal between Hilton and Maritzburg College continues this weekend as both teams face proper challenges.
Maritzburg College will face Michaelhouse on Saturday. College enters this away clash heavily favoured by national pundits. They boast a rigorous campaign highlighted by high-profile victories, including a tight 14-09 triumph over Hilton College earlier in the season. Known for their formidable physicality and high-intensity structural play, College will look to exert maximum set-piece pressure. However, College must not underestimate Michaelhouse, as their close losses against other KwaZulu-Natal powerhouses showed that maybe the bounce of the ball favoured their opponents.
In the other high-profile clash, Hilton will host Kearsney on Saturday, and despite Hilton’s loss to Maritzburg College at the end of May, Hilton are the favourites for this clash. Although Kearsney is on a three-match losing streak against other KZN powerhouses, none of their losses was by a big margin, with the 2-point loss to Maritzburg College a big warning to Hilton.
