Although there are not many matches on the menu this weekend in the NoorVaal competitions, the matches between Noordheuwel and Waterkloof and Helpmekaar vs Middelburg could spoil us with some high-octane action.
Helpmekaar’s 2026 season is not one to remember, losing eight of their fourteen matches played this season and could only beat EG Jansen in five NoordVaal Cup matches played. Middelburg are unbeaten at home this season; however, they did lose to EG Jansen (11-18) a week ago, and the match against Helpmekaar is NOT in Middelburg, and I expect Helpmekaar to win with relative ease.
Noordheuwel will travel to Waterkloof in a battle that could secure 3rd place in the NoordVaal Cup, which will avoid Garsfontein in the semi-final. Noordheuwel is on a three-match winning streak, and although Waterkloof has only lost to Garsfontein (18-24) in the NoordVaal Cup competition, they will be extremely rusty as they last played on the 23rd of May.
The forwards of Waterkloof is/was impressive during the season, and their backline scored some spectacular tries with the quality ball they were spoiled with. Admittedly, Noordheuwel’s season up to date was not impressive; however, I do believe that the two inactive weeks of Waterkloof could just cost them in Krugersdorp.
