It is rumoured that Ruan Jacobs, the current Head of Rugby at Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies) in Pretoria, is being lined up as Recruitment Manager at the Hollywoodbets Sharks.
Jacobs was appointed Head of Rugby at Affies at the end of 2023, replacing Ryno van der Merwe, and proved vital in re-establishing Affies as South Africa's top rugby school, and is credited with revitalising their dominance against traditional powerhouses.
Jacobs is an "Old Affie" (Class of 2006) and previously played centre for the school's first team and achieved an extraordinary double in beating Grey College as a 1stXV player in 2006 and coached the 1stXV team earlier in 2026 to a historical 28–21 win over Grey College, their first home victory against Grey College since 2012.
Jacobs not only led Affies as Head of Rugby but also made his mark in the national schoolboy structures and was appointed as a national selector for the SA Schools rugby team in 2023.
