Apart from the Paul Roos vs Paarl Boishaai, the majority of the other scheduled 1sXV fixtures went according to expectations. Stellenberg was made to work hard against Rondebosch, while Paarl Gim was once again unforgiving against Wynberg.
Paul Roos Gymnasium defeated Paarl Boys' High (Boishaai) 28–22 on Saturday, 23 May 2026, in a King Price Derby Series clash, securing their sixth win in a row on the Markotter Field.
Paul Roos’ ability to move the ball at pace, dominate territory through intelligent kicking, and defend with brutality deservedly secured a much-needed win.
Paul Roos dominated play during the first twenty minutes and raced to a 15–0 lead, scoring three unconverted tries. The pace of play by Paul Roos secured them an 18-07 lead at the halftime break. The halftime lead was also built on dominant set-pieces and aggressive defensive reads.
However, Paarl Boishaai mounted a spirited second-half fightback. Boishaai launched wave after wave of Boishaai attacks, but the brutal defence of Paul Roos limited Paarl Boishaai to scoring two tries to the one scored by Paul Roos.
Scorers:
Paul Roos: Tries: Albert Nel, Tevez Cupido, Cadynn Samuels (2). Conversion: Travis Pheiffer. Penalties: Travis Pheiffer (2).
Paarl Boishaai: Tries: Xavier Swarts, Derrick Groenewald, Trichard van Tonder. Conversions: Daniel Meisenheimer (2). Penalty: Daniel Meisenheimer.
