Hollywoodbets Sharks Set To Confirm Appointment Of Attack Coach Soon

Informed sources confirmed that Scott Mathie is set to join the Hollywoodbets Sharks as their attack coach following his departure from Edinburgh Rugby at the end of the 2025/26 season.

The Sharks are currently in a period of structural change; JP Pietersen assumed the role of Interim Head Coach in December 2025, with John Plumtree moving into a consultancy and mentoring role.

Reports indicate that Mathie is the primary candidate to fill the vacant attack coach role in Durban, after Dave Williams left to join the USA Eagles.

Edinburgh Rugby confirmed yesterday that Attack and Backs Coach Scott Mathie will depart the club at the end of the season to take up a new coaching opportunity elsewhere.

Edinburgh coach Sean Everitt thanked Mathie for his contribution. “He is a talented coach who has brought a lot of energy and insight to our attacking game since he arrived in Edinburgh,” Everitt said.

“Scott still has a lot to contribute over the remainder of the current campaign. We wish him all the best in his next challenge.”

Matthie was the Head Coach of the Griquas in the Currie Cup, whereafter, he moved to the Major League Rugby (MLR) side New England Free Jacks, and guided the team to back-to-back MLR titles in 2023 and 2024 as Head Coach. Mathie joined Edinburgh Rugby in August 2024.
