
Maritzburg College announced the appointment of Springbok prop Ruan Dreyer as part of our 1st XV coaching team for 2026.
Ruan brings an exceptional rugby pedigree and the kind of professionalism, energy, and technical expertise that will make a powerful impact on our #RedBlackWhite rugby programme.
A proud product of Monument High School in Gauteng, Ruan went on to build an illustrious playing career, marked by power, precision, and unwavering commitment. He was capped four times for the Springboks as a prop, representing his country at the highest level with distinction.
In the world of professional rugby, Ruan has played for some of the game’s top sides, including:
• The Golden Lions
• Gloucester Rugby in the English Premiership
• The Sharks
Ruan joins College as an assistant coach to the 1st XV, where he will specialise in set-piece coaching, bringing world-class knowledge to the heart of our forward pack. He will also take the lead in installing scrum fundamentals with our U14S, strengthening our player pipeline, and ensuring young College forwards are built on the right foundations from day one.
His blend of international experience, technical insight, and deep passion for the game makes him a phenomenal addition to the College rugby family.
