
The Hollywoodbets Sharks XV thought they lost the match following a late penalty conversion by the Boland. However, with time up on the clock, Siya Masuku converted a penalty to secure a 33-31 win for the home team.
The first twenty minutes of the match were an arm wrestle, with both teams having several opportunities to score; however, the scoreboard remained motionless.
However, after twenty-five minutes of play, Jacques Marais crashed over the tryline. Jean Smith converted to put the Sharks 07-00 in the lead after twenty-five minutes of play.
Five minutes later, Albie Bester scored a great try following great interplay and handling by the Sharks. Smith added the extra to extend the Sharks' lead to 14-00.
With six minutes to play in the first half, Sauliegh Arendse scored a try off the back of a lineout-maul. James Tedder converted to cut the Sharks' lead to 14-07.
The Sharks replied with a Jean Smith converted penalty to extend the Sharks' lead to 17-07, which was the score at the halftime break.
A dominant Sharks lead was extended by Jeab Smith with a converted penalty after just six minutes of play in the second half.
However, a pacy Donovan Don beat the Sharks with sheer pace to score his eighth try of the season. James Tedder converted to cut the Sharks' lead to 20-14 after ten minutes of play in the second half.
The Sharks kept the pressure on, and Jaques Marais scored his second try off the back of a lineout-maul. Smith converted to extend the Sharks' lead to 27-14 after fifteen minutes of play in the second half.
The Boland upped the pace of their attack, and following an extended time on the attack, using their big forwards, prop Dayan van der Westhuizen forced his way over the Sharks' tryline. Tedder converted to make it a six-point match, and twenty minutes still to play.
Following a third penalty by the Sharks’ Jean Smith, the Boland started to launch wave after wave of attacks until Boland’s hooker, HP van Schoor, crashed over for the bonus point and reduced the Sharks' lead to 30-28 with eight minutes to play in the match.
The Boland thought they edged the Sharks following a converted penalty, taking a 31-30 lead with time running out; however, with time up on the clock, the Sharks’ Siya Masuku converted a penalty to secure the Sharks' second win of the season.
