Windhoek Draught Griquas Secure Win Five Minutes After Time Was Up On The Clock.

 

Windhoek Draught Griquas needed a win in Stellenbosch to secure their place in the 2022 Currie Cup's semi-final. Griquas managed to come back after trailing 21-00 after just ten minutes of play to score the match-winning try with the time up on the clock. This 43-41 win secured the Griquas' place in the playoffs with one round of matches still to go.

Western Province opened up a twenty-one points lead within the first ten minutes of the match, however, the visitors started to claw their way back into the match and scored three tries as an answer to their host's five tries. Western Province leading 35-19.

DHL Western Province was happy to convert penalties in the second half to extend their lead resulting in the match losing a lot of its energy. The Griquas threw everything at their hosts during the last fifteen minutes, and only managed the match-winning try five minutes after regular play was over.
