The One-Stripe travelled down the hill on Saturday to play against the only unbeaten team in KZN, Westville Boys’ High, on their Old Boys’ Day.
In front of a massive Westville home support, Kearsney really put their bodies on the line in the first half. Westville scored three tries to one, to be leading 19-10 at the break in really hot conditions. Kearsney’s try came from the in-form number 12, Keanu Williamson, who picked up the ball from the base of a ruck and cantered over to score under the poles.
In a physical and high-intensity second half, Westville were first to score. Kearsney produced some enterprising play, but were unable to cross the line, despite building good pressure with the ball in hand.
Westville struck again in the corner in the 54th minute, with a long pass to their winger, which was well converted by their fly-half.
Kearsney were last to score with a well-executed change of direction play. This saw replacement Ndabenhle Mkhize diving over in the corner for a well-deserved try.
Supporters were entertained to an enjoyable game which ended at 33-15 on the scoreboard, to see Westville maintain their unbeaten record this season.
