Following their 25-21 loss to the Glasgow Warriors, which saw them exit the Investec Champions Cup on Saturday, the Vodacom Bulls have shifted their full focus back to the United Rugby Championship to secure a playoff spot.
Vodacom Bulls head coach Johan Ackermann said that the team must now concentrate on climbing the URC table. The Bulls currently sit in a tight mid-table battle with four matches remaining in the regular season.
The Bulls are currently based in the south of France to avoid excessive travel before heading to Wales for two critical away fixtures.
17 April: vs Dragons RFC (Away) at Rodney Parade
25 April: vs Scarlets (Away) at Parc y Scarlets
09 May: vs Zebre Parma (Home) at Loftus Versfeld
16 May: vs Benetton (Home) at Loftus Versfeld
Ackermann noted that despite the disappointment of the Champions Cup exit, the shift allows the squad to avoid the "logistical quagmire" of juggling two elite competitions.
Ackerman said there are several work-ons for the Bulls before their clash against the Dragons RFC.
“I feel overall, the biggest thing for us against Glasgow was just whether we can fix our discipline, and then we would have probably been in the game a bit more. But there was a lot of character and a lot of fight. And that's the ultimate.”
"What we can ask for is for the players to do that. There are definitely obvious things that we need to fix, but it's now done and dusted, as much as it hurts. And that will put our focus now on the URC.”
