Vodacom Bulls Director of Rugby Jake White said at the post-match conference that despite beating the Hollywoodbets Sharks at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday in a URC Semi-final, they have not won anything yet.
White said that he felt that the Bulls won the match during the last minutes of the first half when the Sharks threatened to overrun the hosts.
"Just before half-time with 12 men on the field, it didn’t look like they were going to score. That was a massive boost to the defence coach and the players. That’s where we won the game."
"Sometimes you think you win a game with a kick in the last minute, but it’s not that, it’s what you do in certain periods. We were 12 out of 10 there for the way we showed attitude."
"Again, I’ll say it confidently, I sat there thinking ‘I don’t think they are going to score here’ because we were fronting up well there."
"You can imagine coming into a changeroom at half-time without conceding a try, you come in with a very different vibe than you would’ve if you conceded a try moments before."
However, White reminded everybody that the job is far from done.
"Winning a semi-final is important, but the trophy is what counts. The players know that, and so do our supporters."
"This was just another step. We need to learn from tonight’s battle and prepare for an even tougher test ahead."
"It’s a massive win for us as we’ve now been to three finals in four years, and they didn’t look like they were going to score."
"Next week’s final will be the biggest test yet, we’ll face a team with many internationals and British & Irish Lions, away from home. Our players want to be part of these big games, that’s how you get better.”
