FNB UP-Tuks Young Guns start the defence of their 2022 title against NWU Young Guns while runner-ups FNB Maties Young Guns host Wits Young Guns at the Danie Craven Stadium.
The number of teams competing in the Young Guns competition was reduced to eight as FNB UWC and FNB Madibaz were demoted to the Varsity Cup Shield competition.
The eight teams are once again grouped in two groups and will be playing in a double-round format with the two highest-ranked teams qualifying for the semi-finals scheduled for 17 April 2023. The finals will be played on 24 February 2023.
Group A - FNB CUT, FNB UFS, FNB NWU, FNB UP-Tuks.
Goup B - FNB Maties, FNB Wits, FNB UCT, FNB UJ.
