The Hollywoodbets Sharks secured a hard-fought 15-03 victory over Munster on Saturday night, wrapping up their three-week tour unbeaten. The Durban-based franchise return to South Africa sitting fourth on the log with 19 points. While the visitors dug deep, Munster proved to be their own worst enemy by gifting possession through a succession of unforced errors.
The Sharks struck first after 15 minutes of tightly contested play. Fullback Zekhethelo Siyaya sparked the attack from deep, launching a dangerous kick-and-chase downfield. Gianni Lombard anticipated the bounce perfectly to cross the whitewash, though the tough conversion attempt drifted wide.
Munster dominated the statistics for the remainder of the first half but struggled to convert pressure into points. Just before the halftime whistle, the hosts opted to slot a penalty via JJ Hanrahan right in front of the uprights, closing the gap and sending the Sharks into the tunnel with a narrow 05-03 advantage.
Lombard extended the visitors' lead to 08-03 in the 54th minute by punishing Munster’s ill-discipline with a successful penalty goal. The Sharks' composure was tested shortly after when loosehead prop Ox Nché was sent to the sin bin for a dangerous off-the-ball tackle. Despite playing with 14 men, the defensive wall held firm against Munster's numerical advantage.
The final blow came late in the second half following a brilliant line-break by loose forward Nick Hatton. Scrum-half Ivan van Zyl crashed over to cap off the movement, with Lombard adding the extra two points. The clinical finish sealed the 15-03 result and completed a highly successful touring block for the coastal side.
