Toyota Cheetahs will be hoping that the talismanic Ruan Pienaar is back on form on Saturday when they travel to Oyonnax Rugby in the EPCR Challenge Cup for a crucial Pool 1 match.
The veteran half-back struggled with his goalkicking last weekend in the 33-20 home loss to Section Paloise, succeeding with only half his attempts, although he is still the tournament's leading points-scorer thus far with 35.
The Toyota Cheetahs aim to secure a place in the Round of 16 for a second successive season and will be desperate to bounce back from their first defeat.
Adding to their worries, injured players, outside back Cohen Jasper and centre Ali Mgijima, returned home.
“Ali didn’t make the protocols regarding head injuries,” Toyota Cheetahs head coach Hawies Fourie said.
“He played well in all the games, especially last weekend against Pau. He brought a lot of energy. He made linebreaks and good tackles, so he was close to being selected in the starting lineup.”
Hawies Fourie also confirmed Abner van Reenen and Andell Loubser will join the team as replacements.
Hawies Fourie made it clear that they have to fix what went wrong against Section Paloise with their accuracy one of the elements they need to improve in this crunch encounter if they are to reach the Round of 16.
