“The Fidelity SecureDrive Lions Are Known As A Place Of Opportunity” – Rudolf Straeuli

Fidelity SecureDrive Lions CEO Rudolf Straeuli defended his decision to retain head coach Ivan "Cash" van Rooyen, citing the need to avoid financial instability and chaotic management changes, a decision vindicated by the team's qualification for the URC playoffs.

“It’s easy to fire a coach; it’s the easiest thing to do. The likes of Cash, Jaque and Julian have been with the Lions for a long time. You know their work ethic, you never doubt the effort that they put in.”

Straeuli highlighted the staff's work ethic and resilience under intense pressure as key factors in allowing them time to unlock the team's potential.

“Credit to the guys who kept on working hard and not panicking,” he said. “Cash had to get time in the seat.”

Straeuli also highlighted the Lions’ strategy for developing coaches and players as a key reason for their recent successes.

“With the development of coaches and players, you have got to be patient,” he said. “We are known as a place of opportunity.”
