The Springboks arrived in Argentina on Sunday evening (SA time) after a long haul which included a stop in New Zealand, with very little time to celebrate their 24-8 victory over the Wallabies, their first in Australia since 2013, before they shifted focus to their next task, which is a tough encounter against the Pumas in Argentina.
The Boks departed from Sydney via Auckland for Buenos Aires on Sunday morning (Australian time) for their fifth-round Castle Lager Rugby Championship clash against the Pumas at Estadio José Amalfitani on Saturday, 17 September.
With the log-jam at the top of the standings, New Zealand leads with 10 points after four rounds, followed by the Boks, Wallabies and Pumas, all one nine points – victory in Buenos Aires is almost non-negotiable for South Africa if they are to keep their hopes alive of winning the title.
No names were released of players to join the Springboks in Argentina as replacements for the injured players.
