In what could be a controversial ending to the KwaZulu Natal season, DHS could still be crowned king of Natal despite losing to the unbeaten Westville 28-33 at the end of May.
This will be due to DHS playing two more matches than Westville, who will play their final match against Michaelhouse this weekend, and the "quality" of their opponents played. What is also important is to take into account the ranking of the teams at the stage of playing each other.
Only Northwood, Maritzburg College, Glenwood and DHS will be active in term three, which could also influence the rankings a lot.
Hilton College vs Maritzburg College
Hilton opened their season with a loss the Westville (15-23), followed by losses to Grey High (07-20) and DHS (18-26), leaving Hilton with nine wins from twelve played. Maritzburg lost six of their twelve matches; however, they are coming into the match with wins over Kearsney (35-20) and Michaelhouse (31-25), which should give them some confidence travelling to Hilton. However, despite expecting a brutal battle, Hilton must be the favourite.
Kearsney College vs St Stithians
Kearsney did not have the best run coming into this match, losing their last four matches. St Stithians, on the other hand, are having a much better 2025, improving their rankings by sixteen places to #49, four positions lower than Kearsney. Kearsney at home should have the vote, however ......
