Following some dubious last-minute changes made by the NoordVaal Schoolsboy Rugby Association early in 2023, Menlopark was to be relegated from the Cup division to the Plate division.
After several attempts, including legal threats, by Menlopark the NoordVaal Schoolboy Rugby Association has decided to increase the number of schools that will compete in the Cup competition from the current nine schools to ten schools in 2024. Thereby keeping Menlopark in the Cup competition.
It was well known that should the matter not be settled, Menlopark's arguments/claims would succeed easily in the courts. Hopefully, the egos realised that they are representatives and not the rulers of schoolboy rugby.
It was also decided that apart from the Cup competition, the other categories will now consist of nine schools to the previous eight schools.
Cup: EG Jansen, Garsfontein, Helpmekaar, Marais Viljoen, Monnas, Nelspruit, Noordheuwel, Rustenburg, Waterkloof.
Plate: Kempton Park, Klerksdorp, Ligbron, Middelburg HTS, Montana, Oos Moot, Transvalia, Zwartkop.
Shield: Ben Vorster, Die Anker, Heidelberg Volkies, Hugenote, Jeugland, Lichtenburg, Pietersburg, Secunda, Wesvalia.
Bowl: Alberton, Bergsig, Dr Malan, Eldoraigne, Merensky, Piet Retief, Potch Gim, Potch Volkies, Wagpos.
