South Africa's top rugby school, Grey College were forced to change a few 2024 fixtures as released late in 2023. In a change of pace at the Noord/Suid Festival, Grey will face KES and Jeppe while an annual interschools against Paarl Gimnasium is an exciting addition to Grey's rugby calendar.
What is expected from Grey College - Everything we are used to and even more. The Grey 1stXV will welcome a few regulars from 2023 with their tight five and centre pairing expected to cause havoc. These gentlemen will need backup from their teammates and according to informed sources, one or two stars might or definitely will emerge as the stars of 2024.
The Grey College 1stXV will play sixteen games in 2024, which include 5 of the top ten schools of 2024 and if you name schools like Welkom Gym, Grey PE and Selborne as their "easy" games it is a fact that many schools will run away from a year Grey College is approaching with a smile.
Grey College's u/16A team only lost their last game in 2022 against Paul Roos following the whole town's prayers for rain and when God did not do his best, according to their supporters, extra water was added. Therefore, Grey's return to Stellenbosch should be one of the highlights in 2024
Will Grey College's number 1 spot on the rankings be under threat? There are several schools whose supporters have reason to believe they can, however, we have seen many fail at the first hurdle while only one or two succeed in a decade. Long life the king.
