Sanlam Boland Cavaliers Set High Goals For Carling Currie Cup

Sanlam Boland Cavaliers head coach Hawies Fourie said they set high goals for themselves to achieve in the 2025 Carling Currie Cup Premier Division.

“We set high goals for ourselves, and we want to compete for a place in the semifinals. That is our aim. To be able to achieve that, you need to win your home games, and we’ve won two from as many attempts."

“The Bulls are coming next weekend, so it will be important for us to prepare well again, reset, get this win behind us and focus on what we need to do to give ourselves a chance to beat the Bulls and move up on the table."

“To get to 20 log points, that’s where I feel we will need to be if we want to qualify for the semifinals."

“From what I heard at the back end of the competition, some of the United Rugby Championship teams will field their strongest available sides."

“We must still play the Sharks and Western Province in our last two games, so we’ve got to make sure that we use these next two games well.”

“We are not in this competition to fill up the numbers,” captain Marlyn Williams said.

“We are a proud and passionate union. Teams shouldn’t expect to rock up at the Boland Stadium and collect log points.

“We pride ourselves in what we do and how we do it, which we put a lot of emphasis on.

“Especially coach Hawies, who doesn’t like losing like anyone else."

“We work hard, and it’s important that we make the focus 80 percent about ourselves and 20 percent about the opposition. It doesn’t help if we focus too much on the opposition and forget about ourselves and our strengths."

“We will look at what our weaknesses are and work on them to get better in what we do.”
