Northampton Saints Disgraced Vodacom Bulls At Franklin’s Gardens

The Northampton Saints secured an eight try, 50-05 win over a hapless Vodacom Bulls on Sunday afternoon.

Northampton Saints exploited the lack of “will” of the Vodacom Bulls defenders when they created an overlap on the outside for Ollie Sleightholme to score in the corner. Fin Smith converted to add the extra two points to secure a 07-00 lead for the Saints after eight minutes of play in the first half.

Despite being dominated early on, a Saints defensive mistake was pounced on by Stravino Jacobs, who scored a long-distance try, cutting the hosts' lead to 07-05 with 18 minutes still to play in the first half.

The pressure eventually led to a penalty five meters from the Bulls' tryline, from which the Saints took a tap and eventually spread the ball to the left, creating space for George Hendy, who strolled over in the corner for the Saints' second try. Smith converted to extend the Saints' lead to 14-05 and seven minutes still to play.

The Saints continued their dominance, and a sublime grubber from Fin Smith gave George Hendy the opportunity to claim his second try of the night. Smith converted to extend the Saints' lead to 21-05 with thirty minutes to play in the second half.

After seventeen minutes of play, the Saints took a tap from a penalty five meters from the Bulls' tryline, and Henry Pollock scored the Saints’ bonus point try off the back of the initial. From the kick-off, Alex Coles scored a primary school try, extending the Saints’ lead to 35-05.

Thereafter, Ollie Sleightholme, George Hendy and Josh Kemeny added their names to the try scorers to secure a 50-05 win for the Northampton Saint.
