Kwagga Smith, who ran out for his 50th Test cap in the Springboks’ 32-15 victory against Scotland at Murrayfield in Edinburgh on Sunday reflected on the match on Monday describing the occasion as “special.”
Smith, who is one of a select group of players who represented both the Blitzboks and Springboks, was delighted about the achievement and said the victory made the occasion even more special for him.
"For me, running out at Murrayfield, getting my 50th is just crazy. And it's really an honour with this team."
"I didn’t think I’d get to 50 Test matches, so it’s an honour and special to give something back to this team."
"And then still winning a rugby championship as well before this? I think we've got a good environment going. I think it's good internal competition, but we all believe in the same dream and we all work together to reach those dreams."
Looking back on his journey from the national sevens team to the Springboks, where he is now one of several double Rugby World Cup winners in the touring squad.
"Playing sevens and going to the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games, as well as playing 35 tournaments for the Blitzboks was fantastic, but then one sets your next goal, and I wanted to be a Springbok," Smith said.
