Round 2 of the 2026 Carling Currie Cup Premier Division delivered a spectacular weekend of high-scoring action, massive point margins, and statement victories. The home teams completely dominated the weekend, executing a clean sweep across all four fixtures.
Toyota Cheetahs 43-21 Hollywoodbets Sharks XV
The Toyota Cheetahs maintained their unbeaten run in the competition with a commanding victory over the Hollywoodbets Sharks XV at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein. A devastating final 15 minutes saw the hosts cross the whitewash three times to blow open what had been a fiercely contested, see-saw battle. The home side ran in multiple scores, highlighted by an exceptional hat-trick from winger Prince Nkabinde and a double from scrumhalf Faf de Klerk. The bonus-point win firmly keeps the Cheetahs at the top of the early Currie Cup table.
Fidelity ADT Lions 52-29 Airlink Pumas
The Fidelity ADT Lions bounced back fiercely from their Round 1 defeat, securing a comprehensive, bonus-point victory over the Airlink Pumas in an action-packed encounter at Ellis Park. In a game defined by attacking flair and disciplinary swings, a midfield masterclass by centre Rynhardt Jonker ultimately blew the visitors away in the second half. Despite the Pumas opening the scoring, the Lions' youthful backline took charge. Flanker Jarod Cairns bagged an impressive brace, while Jonker put in a man-of-the-match performance with brilliant try assists.
Suzuki Griquas 56-26 Vodacom Bulls XV
The Suzuki Griquas delivered a dominant, physical performance to outmuscle the Vodacom Bulls XV, securing a comprehensive bonus-point victory at Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley. The defending champions made a loud statement after a disappointing opening week. Scrumhalf Bobby Alexander celebrated his 50th appearance for the Griquas with a spectacular hat-trick. Left winger Gurshwin Wehr matched him with a hat-trick of his own, while the boot of George Whitehead added 16 points to dismantle the Bulls line-up.
Sanlam Boland Cavaliers 41-03 DHL Stormers XXIII
The biggest shock of the weekend took place at Boland Stadium in Wellington. The Sanlam Boland Cavaliers completely dismantled the Stormers XXIII in the highly anticipated regional derby. Fullback Domenic Smit and winger Xavier Mitchell set an aggressive tone with tries in the opening six minutes. Utility back Jayden Bantons then took centre stage, scoring 3 tries and contributing a staggering total of 26 points. The Stormers put on a wasteful, error-riddled performance, managing only a single penalty goal throughout the entire 80 minutes.
