The Hollywoodbets Sharks secured a 29-19 bonus-point win over the Scarlets, who are still looking for their first win of the season.
A scintillating start for the Sharks as Vincent Tshituka crushed over in the corner to edge the Sharks 05-00 into the lead after five minutes of play.
Ten minutes later, the Scarlets attack burst through the middle and, following great interplay by their forwards, Marnus van der Merwe scored a great try. Sam Costelow converted to take a 07-05 lead after sixteen minutes of play in the first row.
From the kick-off, the Sharks attacked off the back of a lineout twenty-two meters out, and Emmanuel Tshituka scored next to the poles. Jean Smith converted.
Blair Murray pounced on a bouncing ball from the kick-off and scored a “lucky” try. Costelow converted to extend the Scarlets' lead 14-12.
Following a lineout-maul, Lee-Marvin Mazibuko peeled around the side of a maul to crash over the Scarlets tryline. The Sharks retook the lead 19-14 following the conversion by Smith.
Brilliant running by Tom Rodgers had him cutting down next to the scrum, evading several defenders to score next to the poles to level the scores on 19-19.
The game started to open up, and four minutes after the try by Rogers, it was Siya Kolisi’s turn to add his name to the scoresheet and retake the lead 26-19 for the Sharks.
Jean Smith extended the Sharks' lead to 29-19 with seventeen minutes still to play in the second half.
The rest of the second half was an exciting period; however, despite several scoring opportunities, no points were added. The Sharks secured a bonus point 29-19 win over the Scarlets.
