It was confirmed that loose-head prop Carl Killian from Grey High School was included in the Eastern Province U16 Grant Khomo team that faced the Blue Bulls on Monday at Kearsney College despite Eastern Province Rugby Union (EPRU) President George Malgas replacing him with a boy from a disadvantaged school.
The Eastern Province (EP) U16 Grant Khomo Week selection sparked major controversy a few weeks ago after the Eastern Province Rugby Union (EPRU) President George Malgas directly altered the finalised 23-player squad, replacing Killian and loosie Arno Cronje with two boys from Tsitsikamma Secondary School and Bonzai Kabega School.
Both boys who were included following Malgas’ decision were not included in the final team list that was registered at the 2026 U16 Grant Khomo Week.
Killian was included as #17, while Cnonje was still not included. The only other change made to the final team list is that Singa Gobingca was replaced by Carlo Booysen.
