It was confirmed that Glenwood High School cancelled its sports fixtures against Michaelhouse for the weekend of January 31, 2026.
The reason for the cancellation was the transfer of a highly rated U16 prop from Glenwood to Michaelhouse, which Michaelhouse stated occurred at his parents' insistence.
The cancellation has generated significant discussion within the school sports community, with many linking it to the broader issue of private, wealthier schools allegedly "poaching" talented athletes from government schools by offering better opportunities and bursaries.
Michaelhouse expressed disappointment over the cancellation but stated that they are committed to ensuring alternative sporting arrangements are made for their boys for the affected weekend.
