The Hollywoodbets Sharks lost 35-19 to the 2024 champions, the Glasgow Warriors, on Friday evening.
The Sharks made a great start to the match when Edwill van der Merwe found space out wide to score the Sharks’ first try of the match after eight minutes of play in the first half to lead 05-00.
Six minutes later, Glasgow scores after Kyle Rowe found some space wide. Dan Lancaster added the extras for Glasgow to take a two-point lead.
Glasgow dominated and eventually was rewarded when Matt Fagerson scored their second try. Horne converted to extend Glasgow’s lead to 14-05, and ten minutes still to play.
The Sharks hit back eight minutes later when the captain, Vincent Tshituka, bulldozed his way over. Jaden Hendrikse converted to cut Glasgow’s lead to 14-12, which was also the halftime score.
After eight minutes of play in the second half, Rory Darge scored off the back of a powerful maul, and Horne converted to extend Glasgow’s lead to 21-12.
Following brilliant work by Edwill van der Merwe, fed Lukhanyo Am, who crashed over for the Sharks' second try. Jaden Hendrikse converted to make it a two-point game, and twelve minutes to play.
Great interplay between George Horne and Jamie Dobie led to Dobie scoring a 50-meter try under the posts. Glasgow earned a bonus point for scoring four tries and led 28-19 with eight minutes to play.
With three minutes to play following several penalties conceded by the Sharks, Glasgow was awarded a penalty try to extend their lead to 35-19, which was also the final score.
