Hoërskool Eldoraigne has officially entered a new era. The Centurion-based school announced the appointment of former Springbok Sevens star Jaco van Schalkwyk as their new Director of Rugby, filling the vacancy left by outgoing Springbok legend Naas Botha.
Van Schalkwyk’s arrival comes at a critical structural turning point for Eldoraigne. Eldoraigne endured a bruising 2026 Virseker Noordvaal campaign, ultimately finishing at the bottom of the Shield Division log, and has been officially demoted to the Noordvaal Bowl Division (fourth tier) for the upcoming season.
In Van Schalkwyk, Eldoraigne has secured a proven program builder capable of navigating the road back to the top. Moving to Gauteng from Hoër Volkskool Graaff-Reinet, Van Schalkwyk boasts an impressive track record across all age groups during his tenure in the Eastern Cape.
His immediate mandate will be to steady the ship, revitalise Eldoraigne's rugby culture, and mount an aggressive campaign in the Bowl Division to secure immediate promotion back up to the Shield. With pre-season preparations just around the corner, Eldoraigne faithful will be eager to see how the former Blitzbok structures his rebuilding project.
