Dave Rennie Left Frustrated After Loss To Springboks

The Wallabies will once again lick their wounds after another frustrating defeat, losing Hunter Paisami and Noah Lolesio to concussion whilst Taniela Tupou didn't get a chance to feature after tweaking his calf.

Wallabies head coach Dave Rennie admitted that the Springboks shut the door early on them making it extremely difficult for the Wallabies to claw their way back into the test.

“It was frustrating, we couldn’t get into the game,” Wallabies coach Dave Rennie said after the match. “Early on, we turned a bit of ball over and it gave them momentum.

“They certainly defended and we struggled to get any continuity – they strangled us pretty well.

“The biggest thing was we needed to play with a little bit more optimism, we’re struggling to get our game going, we needed to play with a bit of tempo and kick smarter,” he said.

“Even at 17-3 with 10 minutes left we felt if we got down the other end of the field and get some continuity, maybe we could claw this back.

“It felt like we didn’t fire a shot and they’re very good at strangling us, they go multi-phase and then put it up in the corner and choke you down there.”

“I thought aerially bar one we were strong but again back out of that corner, we struggled.”
