The Blitzboks secured a place in the HSBC SVNS Singapore 9th place final after beating the USA 14-12. The Blitzboks will face Australia at 09:40 in the 9th place final.
Once again, the Blitzboks' defence, or rather the lack thereof, allowed the USA to open the scoring after two minutes of play to lead 05-00. The Blitzboks scored two tries at the end of the first half to go into the halftime break leading 14-05. Zander Reynders had an easy stroll over following great work done by Tristan Leyds, while Ricardo Duarttee used the unguarded blind off a ruck to score the Blitzboks' second try.
The USA once again exposed the Blitzboks' lack of defence when Lucas Lacamp burst through three defenders to open the scoring in the second half, cutting the Blitzboks lead to 14-12, which was also the final score.
