The Blitzboks made a “messy” start at the HSBC SVNS Vancouver tournament, scoring two late tries to secure a 21-05 win over Great Britain 7s.
Following a "boring" first five minutes of the first half with both teams making several unforced errors, it was Ronald Brown who eventually slipped past two defenders of Great Britain and ran ninety meters to score the Blitzboks' first try; he also converted his try to extend the Blitzboks' lead to 07-00, which was the halftime score.
Great Britain 7s applied pressure from the start of the second half and scored their first try with two minutes of play left in the second half.
The Blitzboks pounced on a mistake by Great Britain 7s off the kickoff, and Shilton van Wyk ran sixty meters to secure a 14-05 lead with time almost up. Ryan Oosthuizen scored the Blitzboks' third try in the corner with time up on the clock to secure a "deserving" 21-05 win
