
The Blitzboks qualified for the Cup quarter-finals at 03:57 (SA Time) despite losing 12-17 against Australia in their third match of Pool B.
The Blitzboks had a good start to the match when Impi Visser opened the scoring after just four minutes of play. Australia slowly took control of the match and Henry Hutchison scored Australia's first try with time up on the clock to go into the halftime break level at 05-05.
Two minutes into the second half Henry Patterson scored Australia's second try to take a 12-05 lead following the conversion by Maurice Longbottom. Following five minutes of action Shilton van Wyk scored with Tristan Leyds converting to eve the score 12-12.
With time up on the clock Josh Turner scored the winning try for Australia. Australia won 17-12, however, the Bitzoks advanced to the Cup quarter-final.
