The DHL Stormers will host the Vodacom Bulls in a highly anticipated Vodacom United Rugby Championship North-South Derby on Saturday, 3 January 2026, at Greenpoint Stadium. With ticket sales surpassing 35,000, the Bulls can expect a charged atmosphere both on the pitch and in the stands.
Both the Stormers and the Bulls are expected to make several changes to their line-ups as the Springboks, recently released from a mandated rest period, are now available for selection.
The Bulls, meanwhile, are also navigating significant coaching changes, a move that has split opinion regarding its timing and necessity.
A five-match losing streak resulted in changes to the Bulls’ coaching staff. Assistant coaches Andries Bekker (forwards) and Chris Rossouw (backs) were relieved of their duties on December 23, 2025, with Neill de Bruin's appointment as a replacement confirmed on December 24.
The Bulls' latest setbacks include a 33-43 loss to the Lions at home and a 12-21 defeat to the Hollywoodbets Sharks in Durban.
The unbeaten DHL Stormers are currently top of the URC table, sitting nine places above the struggling Bulls, who are tenth and enduring a five-match losing streak.
The Stormers’ nine consecutive victories mark a new franchise record. However, Director of Rugby John Dobson has voiced concerns about the team's recent game management, highlighting areas that need attention ahead of this crucial derby.
The Stormers secured their ninth straight win, a 34-27 triumph over the Lions at DHL Stadium on December 20, 2025, capping off their unbeaten run for the year.
